Today was a good day! Arlyn was able to wean from
high flow to 2 L NC and in doing so was able to take her first bottle since
surgery. She quickly took down 5 cc of great milk but vomited so they decided
to wait until tomorrow to continue on bottle. Tonight I will attempt to breast
feed and likely fail but the introduction is important so she can explore and
hopefully with the help of nutrition, lactation and speech will find her own
success before we go home. She had her NG tube taken out this morning since she
looked so good and was unlikely to go back on CPAP. It has been exciting to
watch her little personality blossom since she is more awake. She is alert and
awake during the day now not only at night and one thing for sure she knows how
to belt out a good cry when we do something that we don't like. She is taking
the pacifier regularly and finds comfort in it.
I have been having problems with my laptop so I apologize for the delay in posting from yesterday! I realize many of you look forward to the blog and I try to update at least daily so thank you for your patients.
