March 14th 2017, 1700

In the eye of the storm today Arlyn has continued to make progress. Today she has made it to goal and is completely being fed through her gastric tube. She lost weight and is now an even 6 lbs. The course of weight gain and feeding should take about 10 to 14 days without set backs according to Dr. Powers plan. For the next several days she will get fed by means of continuous feeds. Then they will space it out so she will start stretching her stomach out and get feed 20 oz over 2 and 1/2 hours then 2 hours then 1 and 1/2 hours until she is eating every 3 hours by bolus feeding. This will allow her the feeling of being hungry. At which point we will try and bottle feed her and what ever doesn't get finished she will get down the NG  tube. She has to be able to tolerate 50% of her feedings by mouth before they will allow her to go home.

Now that we are less acute and no longer in need of ICU care we could be moved at any time to 8 North at strong which is the step down unit. This being said we may also get moved from Ronald McDonald house on site to the offsite location to make room for families of sicker babies. Overall these are all good changes and show us that Arlyn is preparing to go home soon. Continued love and prayers appreciated.
