What a day! Arlyn has done great today and essentially it was all about chest PT and mobility. They assigned Arlyn to 1:1 nursing so she could received chest PT every hour and she did. I spent the morning with her and by 12:30 we had taken off to go visit Kolby and Calogero after doing some errands and paying some bills that had been waiting awhile. We were able to take the kids to pizza hut for dinner, got the kids some necessity items from Walmart and then headed back home to spend an hour with them. It was really nice to spend time with them but while driving back to the hospital it really hit home how much we both miss being home and how torn we felt leaving a piece of ourselves at the hospital (baby Arlyn) We went right up to PICU and watched Arlyn get chest PT and assessment from the next nurse and were able to say how much we appreciated the hard work that Nicole our RN from days had done. We were so comforted by her knowing that our baby was well taken care of while we visited the boys. Tomorrow we will see if Arlyn will need additional nutrition and how her chest X-ray looks in the morning. I hope the Cpap and additional interventions will continue to promote movement of her edema (fluid) in her lungs. Overall our little baby is fighting hard and continues to prove to us that she will make her way. We love her so much!
